Most actors tend to think of their headshot as the tool they take with them to an audition… but they forget that there’s actually more to it than that!

Your headshot is used for:

• postcards
• business cards
• press inquiries
• theater announcements
• lobby boards

And on and on…

So what can a fisherman teach an actor about what to do with his or her headshot?

Quite a lot, as it turns out!

New York Headshots for Actors that Work!

A variation on this question prompted me to post a new article about why you need professional headshots (instead of letting your friend take them).

It really does matter, and it really does make a difference!

As an actor, I’ve experienced the difference myself, and posted my own history of how it effected my own acting career.

Agents and casting directors can’t stress it enough… a professional headshot just stands out next to snapshots and amateur photos taken by hobbyists.

New York Headshots for Actors that Work!

Talking with actors in both LA and New York, I keep hearing the same refrain: I can’t afford new headshots!

Times are tough, and actors have to pay for everything from classes, to gym memberships, to office supplies, and beyond… headshots are another item on the budget list, and high quality inexpensive headshots are hard to find.

Or are they?

While most photographers advertise and post their standard rates on their websites, most also have discounts available… but you may have to ask.

How many times have you headed to an appointment, only to discover you’ve left the address at home. On your email. And now you don’t have access to a computer.

If you use Gmail, and you have a web-enabled phone, there’s a solution!

Gmail offers a free web-application that allows you to access your Gmail account on the go… which means you no longer have a reason to be late for your headshot appointment because you forgot to bring the address.
